Choosing a paint colour can feel overwhelming — there are thousands of shades and every one looks different once it’s on the wall. The good news is that a few simple rules make the decision much easier.
Start with the light. North-facing rooms suit warmer tones that soften the cooler daylight, while south-facing rooms can handle crisper, cooler shades. Always test a sample patch on two different walls and look at it in the morning and evening before committing.
Think about how the room is used, too. Calming, muted tones work beautifully in bedrooms, while living spaces can take bolder colour — especially on a feature wall. And if you’re preparing to sell or rent, fresh neutrals photograph well and appeal to the widest audience.
Still unsure? We’re always happy to advise on colours and finishes as part of any decorating job — just ask.
